“The rattle(sesekwan) has a spirit of its own. The rattle mimics the swishing sound of the water in the womb; this, along with the heartbeat of mama, is the first song the little one hears. The rattle also calls the spirit to come forth in song and ceremony.”
~ Dr. Darlene P. Auger
